Exit Meeting and Exit Form

  1. Do we need to schedule interviews for this year? Yes. Please try and hold interviews on all levels 5 and 6 student.
  2. Does this need to happen as soon as possible? You may take the whole year for this first year. After that schools will need to adhere to initiating the meeting within the first 30 days of the school year.
  3. How does the monitoring form relate to the goals in the monitoring plan? The monitoring plan is specific and individualized for each student. The questions on the monitoring form help to give an overall picture of how the the student functioning in the school system and in their classes. It can guide the school team and the student as to what should be the focus and goals of the monitoring plan.
  4. What kind of goals should be included in the monitoring plan? A students monitoring plan may include but are not limited to:
    1. Goals that will fill any academic gaps that may exist from the time the student was limited in the English skills.
    2. Goals that included study skills to help students achieve academic success.
    3. Goals that will develop and reading, writing, listening, or speaking skills that may have been scored lower than a level 5 on the final WIDA test. (See student score report.)
    4. Goals that will help students become college and career ready.
    5. For high school kids, goals could also include participation in CTE and JATC programs. Scholarships available - contact ALS.
    6. Goals that help students be more fully integrated into the school community and school activities.
    7. Goals that will help students better navigate the educational system now and continuing education later.

Annual Monitoring Meeting and Monitoring Form

    1. Is there a "hard" deadline for the annual meeting and review of the monitoring. No. It just needs to happen once a year and for the most part could be part of a regularly scheduled Parent Teacher Conference.
    2. How do we know what year of monitoring a student is on? The last year that a WIDA test was administered/taken will be their last year of direct service. The next year will be their first year of monitoring. For example: If they took the test in 13/14 school year. The first year of monitoring would be the 14/15 school year.
    3. Do all teachers involved with monitoring a student need to be involved in the annual meeting? No. You can designate one teacher for each annual meeting and they can relay information from other teachers as needed.
    4. We are assigning 'case managers' for our level 5 and 6 students. Is it okay if the LA (or math, or science) teacher of the student is ALSO the case manager for that student? Can they sign the monitoring form twice? Yes. One of the monitoring teachers can also be the "case manager" for that student.

Other

  1. Why doesn't the purple L show up in the teacher grade book as well as on the student profile page? It shows up on the attendance page but not the grade book. It can also be seen by clicking on the student's picture.
