A refugee is defined as a student who has fled to another country to be resettled due to political, religious or social persecution.
Students will come with an I-94 form rather than a birth certificate. See the supporting documents sheet below.
Secondary schools should have a contact person for refugee students (usually a counselor).
In collaboration with ESS, an Individual Learning Plan for refugee students can be developed through interview, providing supports for the student and parents, setting appropriate expectations, modifications and beyond.
